Who We Are
Mulhern Iremonger Design Studios [MIDS] is a design-led RIBA Chartered Architecture Practice dedicated to delivering thoughtful, innovative and carefully considered design solutions across a diverse range of sectors. Working with private homeowners, developers and commercial clients throughout the UK and Ireland, we create architecture that responds to its context, enhances the user experience and delivers lasting value through design excellence.
Our team of architects and designers brings together a wealth of experience gained across the UK, Ireland and Australia, providing a broad range of expertise and perspectives to every commission. This collective knowledge enables us to approach each project with creativity, technical rigour and a clear understanding of how thoughtful design can positively influence the built environment.

Mulhern Iremonger Design Studios was founded in 2015 by Niamh Iremonger and Colin Mulhern, bringing together over 30 years of combined experience in the design and delivery of high-quality architectural projects across the UK, Ireland and Australia.
Niamh studied at both the Dublin School of Architecture and The Bartlett School of Architecture before gaining experience with respected architectural practices in Ireland and the UK, working across residential, commercial and educational sectors. Colin graduated from the Dublin School of Architecture and subsequently developed his professional experience with architectural practices throughout Ireland, Australia and the UK, working on projects within the residential, commercial and healthcare sectors.

With extensive experience in construction and project delivery throughout the UK and Ireland, we provide a comprehensive range of architectural services across residential, commercial and refurbishment sectors. Our services include feasibility studies, planning applications, detailed design, project management and the coordination of consultant teams, guiding projects through every stage from concept to completion.

Our Process
1) Preparation and brief appraisal to fully understand our client’s requirements and needs.
2) Concept design and feasibility studies to test and challenge ideas to find a unique, creative and innovative solution that responds to the clients brief, site and context.
3) Developed design and planning to ensure a successful outcome is achieved through close liaison with the relevant local authority.
4) Technical design stage to work closely with the consultant design team to ensure every last finite detail is considered and prepared carefully for construction.
5) Construction to oversee all of the carefully selected finishes and overall design is completed in a holistic manner, fulfilling our clients needs.
6) Completion to be at hand upon completion of the project to assist with any additional queries, to ensure our clients are provided with a full and complete service.

'We hired Colin to design our house remodelling + adding ~100m2. We are VERY HAPPY with his services and STRONGLY RECOMMEND HIM. He just goes the extra mile that others may not do, while charging a very reasonable fixed fee (not % of contract).
Just putting it upfront - we have really quite pushed it with the design (people gasp when I show them plans and 3D pics) and still - PLANNING WAS A BREEZE (what's all the fuss about? ;)) This is thanks to Colin's knowledge of the rules, his advice and taking the time to go to a pre-app meeting at the council. Thanks to Colin, we gained at least 10m2 of space, while the layout and all the details have all been really well thought out, with little space lost to circulation.'

'Colin (MIDS) worked with us on three different projects for the house and we are very happy with all his work. On the main rear extension/loft conversion, work completed recently, he closely participated in the whole life of the project - from understanding what we needed, drawing up the planning documentation, communicating with the council, working out the tender package, meeting and guiding builders, to surveying the site biweekly to make sure the work was built in accordance with the design. He holds a very high standard for his work and we highly recommend his services.’

'We spoke with a number of architects for our project & having completed the project, I can say we are very happy with our choice of Colin & Niamh (MIDS) & would certainly recommend them.
Particularly in terms of the design stage of things, we found their input invaluable. They came up with a design for both our loft & extension which included things we just never would have thought of on our own. They gave us different options for both parts of the build & were happy to let us steer them based on our preferences.

'Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Colin came up with 3 different designs for turning my (tiny) kitchen and dining room into one, despite there not being much room for manoeuvre. His recommendations and the rationale for them were very helpful, but he was also happy to work with my preferences.
