Double storey extensin Muswell Hill

Planning approval has recently been secured for a double-storey rear extension and roof extension to an existing semi-detached, multi-unit residential property located in Muswell Hill, in close proximity to Alexandra Palace.

The building currently comprises six residential units which fall below current spatial standards. The proposed works seek to address this shortfall by reconfiguring and extending the existing accommodation to deliver six enlarged, high-quality apartments with improved internal layouts, enhanced spatial standards, and increased residential amenity.

The design approach focuses on optimising the existing building envelope while introducing well-considered extensions that respond appropriately to the scale and massing of the host property. Particular emphasis has been placed on improving unit sizes, natural light, and overall liveability, ensuring the upgraded apartments meet contemporary expectations for modern urban living.

The roof extension and rear addition have been carefully composed to integrate with the existing structure, maintaining a coherent architectural language while clearly expressing the intervention. The result is a more balanced and refined residential building that enhances both its functionality and long-term value within the local context.
