Brief: Double storey rear extension, loft conversion with rear and front dormer extensions, and complete refurbishment
This project comprised the complete refurbishment and extension of an existing detached family home located in Wimbledon, alongside the introduction of a new garden studio within the large rear garden. The works were undertaken to significantly enhance both the spatial quality and functionality of the property, while improving its relationship with the external landscape.
At ground floor level, the existing layout was comprehensively reconfigured and extended to create a generous open-plan kitchen, dining and living space. This new arrangement establishes a strong visual and physical connection to the rear garden, with large openings that allow natural light to permeate deep into the plan and support a more fluid indoor-outdoor relationship.
In addition, the existing roof structure was altered and raised to facilitate a loft conversion, providing additional accommodation at second floor level. This intervention increases the overall capacity of the home while maintaining a balanced and coherent external appearance.
The new garden studio provides a flexible, standalone space within the rear garden, designed to complement the main house while offering a separate area for work, leisure, or ancillary use. Together, the interventions create a more versatile and contemporary family home, carefully tailored to the clients’ evolving needs.
