Windsor House
Location: Finchley
Type: Residential
Stage: Complete
Brief: Rear Extension and Full Refurbishment

Works to this semi-detached family home in Finchley were completed in 2024 and comprised a single-storey side infill extension adjacent to the existing rear outrigger, alongside comprehensive refurbishment works throughout the property, including the upgrading of insulation and overall building performance.
The side infill extension enabled the creation of a generous open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space to the rear of the ground floor, significantly improving the functionality and spatial quality of the home. This new arrangement allows the front portion of the property to retain a more formal reception space within the original footprint of the house, maintaining a clear distinction between traditional and contemporary living zones.
Additional ancillary accommodation, including a pantry, utility room, WC, and cloakroom, has been carefully integrated into the ground floor layout, enhancing the practicality of the home while supporting modern family living requirements.
A combination of new rooflights and enlarged glazed openings to the rear elevation introduces increased levels of natural light, allowing daylight to penetrate deep into the plan and improving the overall brightness and sense of openness within the main living spaces.
Overall, the project delivers a more efficient, light-filled, and adaptable family home, achieved through a considered balance of extension, internal reconfiguration, and fabric improvement.
